You know that feeling when every ounce of your body is at peace because you know you are at one with God’s will and exactly where you need to be. That was the feeling I had when I went to the Catholics on Call follow- up retreat earlier this month.
The retreat was set-up much like the conference [which Carla had attended earlier.] A speaker, reflection on the topic, was followed by a shared group discussion on our reflections. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing others’ thoughts, contemplating them, and getting to share my own. Throughout the entire weekend I felt listened to, and that my thoughts and presence were valued. I appreciated this weekend because I yearn for that dialogue with others about faith. I think it’s a crucial component to the growth of an individual on their faith journey and something that has been lacking in my life.
Upon returning from the retreat I was inspired by my daily prayer book to write a reflection.
I am a pilgrim set out on my journey this day. I can not look ahead nor behind because that will waste precious energy and I may not reach today’s destination. But the destination is not a fixture in time and space. It’s simply to accept the love from the source and power that has created this day. For this reason I am unable to see but 2 feet in front of me. Still I know as long as I am on the path it will continue. The following of this path takes discipline and I must put all my trust in Him who lays it before me. Filled with love for Him towards whom I am walking, I must never doubt where he leads because He’s the only one who truly knows my heart.
I’d like to say thank you to Gina Pultorak for believing in me, supporting me, and walking with me on my journey. I’d also like to thank Cabrini Mission Corps and The Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of such a loving and fruitful community. Your dedication to the spiritual growth of young adults is a gift. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to grow toward our most loving and dedicated Father.
