Sr. Lucille Souza, MSC, has had an impact on my life since I first came to know Cabrini Mission Corps in the 1990s. Lucille, at that time Director of Cabrini Mission Corps, was very supportive and encouraging in everything from the application process to the interview to the preparations to go to Argentina.
Her patience, humor, understanding, love and warmth made the difficult times easier and the fun times more joyous. I remember her compassionate smile during my anxious moments before leaving on mission; her understanding ear during my times of trial while there, and her pride and joy at my return to hear of all of my experiences.
Lucille will forever be one of the people whom I remember as significant in my growth and development as a human being. I am forever grateful to her, and forever reminded of her presence when I make tough decisions and choose the way in which I am going to live my life. Lucille has greatly influenced me in a way that helps me to be a more compassionate Christian. My hope is to more fully express Gods love to others in the way that she has for me.
Sr. Lucilles Story of the Heart was written by Sara Bauermeister, a former Cabrini Mission Corps Missioner.
