Cabrini Immigrant Services (Henry Street)
New York, United States
Funded primarily by its grants, the Henry Street Cabrini Immigrant Services (CIS) is part of the apostolic outreach of Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. The office is accredited by the Bureau of Immigration Appeals to provide immigration legal services and thus provides free family based immigration and citizenship services. Additionally, the office provides case management, advocacy, and educational workshops surrounding issues of immigrant access to higher education, health care, rights in the public school system, and immigration law. CIS has a strong community organizing component and works with community members, parishes, national and local organizations, and elected officials to fight for social justice issues that affect the immigration community, most notably just and humane immigration reform.
Sr. Pietrina Raccuglia, MSC, Provincial of the Stella Maris Province and former Director of Cabrini Immigrant Services narrates this video overview of Cabrini Immigrant Services, an outreach ministry of the Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. The video provides a synopsis of the many services offered to the immigrant community on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The video was produced by the Catholic Health Association.
